Program Overview
The programme is a three-year programme which was initiated partly in line with the educational reform programme initiated by the government to absorb graduates of the Senior Secondary School who want to pursue a Higher National Diploma at the tertiary level. It aimed at producing middle-level accountants to meet the needs of the industrial and commercial setups in the country.
Admission Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
a. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)
Holders of SSSCE with aggregate 6 – 24 that is a credit pass (A–D) in six subjects including
English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and three Electives; which are
Accounting, Business Management, Economics etc.
b. West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Applicants must have English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and three
Electives; holders of WASSCE in six subjects (Al – D7) in each of the six Subjects and three
Elective Subjects with aggregate (6-36).
c. GCE ‘A’ level with at least three (3) passes excluding general paper.
MATURE STUDENTS
The requirements for matured students are as follows:
a. At least 25 years of age
b. Pass an entrance exams conducted by the university
c. Show a proof of age
DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES APPLICANTS (DBS)
Five (5) GCE ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics
and passes in five (5) DBS subjects including credit in any three (3) subjects at one
sitting.
GENERAL BUSINESS CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (GBCE)
a. Five (5) GCE credit passes in GBCE or GCE ‘O’ level including English
and Mathematics.
b. Three (3) passes in Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)
FOREIGN QUALIFICATIONS
All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education
Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission
to the Higher National Diploma in Accounting programme.
PROFESSIONAL AND OTHER ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
All professional certificates and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above
must be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for the establishment of
their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission to tertiary education
institutions-universities.
